Oriental Rugs

Oriental Rugs broadly means any rug that is either piled or flat woven fabric, primarily hand-knotted.  These carpets originate traditionally from East or “Orient”, which means they come from  Afghanistan, China, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan, Tibet, Turkey, Romania, Albania, Morocco and Egypt. These rugs can be  categorized by their origin such as Persian rugs, Arabian rugs, Anatolian rugs, Kurdish rugs, Caucasian rugs, Turkestanian  rugs, Chinese rugs, Tibetan rugs, Indian rugs, to name a few.

These rugs are very famous but now sold across the world. These rugs are known as cultural centerpieces, and they have occupied a central place in many homes. With their regal quality, style and timeless patterns of art, these carpets have mesmerized people world over decades after decade. European Aristocrats have been known Patrons of these Rugs, for their mansions and palatial residences cum palaces have these spread out magnificently on the floor.

Their antiquity remains unparalleled. They are collected as souvenirs bought as investments pieces for generations. Oriental rugs are distinguished for their individuality and aesthetic properties from rest of the designs and other forms of rugs. They are categorized for their immaculate patterns, floral as well as geometrical; the embroidery is refined, with both bold and subdued colors alike. Rugs woven in Eastern styles have stylized descriptions engraved on them.

The weavings derived from aged dyes and seamless blending, the way they elevate the décor of a facility makes you marvel at their beauty. One of the most important factors in evaluating these rugs is the colors and their combinations, the design elements or the drawing.  Is the rugs pleasing to the eye?  Does it improve as one looks at it? Is there a sense of depth and balance in the colors and layout?  Quality of wool used to manufacture the same is another factor. A rugs woven with excellent quality of wool can easily survive 50 years or more with very little wear and tear.

High quality wool actually improves in sheen the more it is used. To feel the wool, rub the palm of your hand across the top of the rugs, the surface should not feel overtly dry or stiff.  Try to hold the rugs up by the edge and feel how much it weighs, hard wearing rugs will have some "body" to it.

Carefully inspect the rugs by walking around it and examining it from every angle. The longer you give your attention to it, it will reveal its beauty and many more nuances. These unique works of art fascinates you, sparks your interest and demands your attention so that you can get to know them better and then becomes your most possessed piece of art.  We advise you to take your time while making a purchase decision.
